Your fun and relaxing day will start right from the cruise pier where the friendly guides and transportation will be waiting for you. The route will take you through the Jamaican countryside on the way to the rafting base on the Great River. Your English-speaking guide will give you lots of history and information during the excursion.
Arriving at the rafting camp in the village of Lethe, you will board your raft. They are constructed from 30ft long bamboo poles and seat just 2 people. The captain uses a long pole to push the raft down the river. He will entertain you with facts and stories of the river. This is NOT a white river rafting excursion but rather a gentle float. There is much to see along the route so bring your waterproof camera.
(Note that the maximum number of people on a raft is 2 whether an adult or a child.)
At the end of the bamboo raft portion, visit a small working plantation where bananas and pineapples are produced. The guide will tell you the history and information about this typical Jamaican plantation. You will see how coconuts are harvested as you watch the barefoot worker climb the trees to cut down coconuts. You will get to sample fresh coconut water and the tasty coconut meat. Learn how to create a famous pina colada made with all of the fresh ingredients you just saw growing on the plantation.
Next is a tasty bar-b-q lunch served along with fruit drinks to enjoy before you head back to the cruise pier.
