Depart pier in air conditioned comfort for a 20 minutes drive to Prospect Plantation. At Prospect, you will be taken through the estate by a covered tractor-drawn jitney, while a guide introduces the various such as banana, sugarcane, pineapple, coffee and papaya. Find out why banana grows up and down. During the tour, you will be given an opportunity to sample many of the fruits in season. See Farmer Brown climb a 30ft Coconut Tree. Experience a variety of amazing views of the Island and enjoy the Estate’s “secret gardens”. Take pleasure in feeding the ostriches, have your picture taken petting our friendly camels and see the bees in their home, enjoy a cool complimentary refreshing drink.
Visit Prospect’s “Great House”, you will learn the history of how and why this amazing “18th Century Fort” became a “Great House”. No doubt you will hear tales of the “Buccaneers” as you view the channel between the two islands known as the “Spanish Main” … this was the main route taken by ships on route to Spain from Central America. Feast your eyes on beautiful antiques including the largest collection of 18th Century “Tortoise Combs”. Wander onto the veranda and your breath will be taken away by the spectacular panoramic view of the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea. Roam the beautiful gardens and stroll our butterfly aviary.
After leaving Prospect, take a sightseeing tour of Ocho Rios, while visiting the Tajmahal Complex and Sony’s Plaza for duty free shopping, then the craft market for Jamaican hand-made crafts. Then, spend the remainder of the day at Dunn’s River Falls. The climax of the tour will be the island’s famous beauty spot, Dunn’s River Falls. Here the group will be encouraged to join in the fun and climb the 600ft. glorious cascading waterfalls in a human chain led by experienced Fall Guides. On their way to the top, they’ll pause at the ‘massage parlor’ and experience the soothing effects of the waters as it cascades to the sea, or just relax on the beach and enjoy the sun. If they are a souvenir hunter with a genuine love for woodcarving, straw craft and intuitive art are available, or they can browse through the shops in the Craft Park. Return to ship.
